The battle continues... and other musings...

Chicago, IL
The battle for sleep supremacy continues. In a recent development, Annabelle has shifted her tactics. Thus far, traditional wisdom has dictated a frontal assault with incessant crying at the beginning of the night and refusal to sleep. Recent indications though are of a sleeper assault. This cunning and vicious attack consists of immediately falling asleep upon being put in bed. Then when the enemy (aka, Mom and Dad) come to sleep, approximately 3-4 hours later, opening up with both lungs and launching a surprise attack. Of course, the pure genius of this move is that Annabelle actually rests up for the attack, while the enemy fritters away their time watching television or eating, like suckers. Stay tuned for continuing developments...

Yes, Nikki and I have had to shift our approach and constantly keep adapting to this little rascal. Not that that is an entirely surprising notion. Annabelle is a wily little rascal and she's definitely inherited her fathers Taurus instincts, much to her mothers chagrin.

The funny part is that Nik and I are never really too ticked off at her. It's obvious that Mother Nature made babies cute for a reason. At 2am, when she wakes up and wants to keep us up, she'll just smile and giggle and wiggle. What can you do when something that cute just wants to be happy and play with you? Not a lot, you just smile back and marvel at what you've gotten yourself into.

In all honesty though, Annie has been getting much better about getting to sleep. When we put her down at 7pm, she pretty much drops right off. We'll get her sleeping through the night soon I think. When she wakes up and smiles at us it really is a great feeling to know that she just loves you unconditionally.

Sweet dreams everyone, have some for Nikki and I!
