So, just to have it out there, I wanted to repost the email blast that I put out on Wednesday night after Annie arrived.
Nikki and I are pleased to announce the birth of our baby girl Annabelle.
She was born at April 26, 2006, 6:34 pm, and weighed 7 lbs even.
( I forgot to mention, she was 20 inches long :P)
Annabelle ended up coming a little on the fast and furious side. Nikki's water apparently broke at around 8pm, on Tuesday night, but not seeing it for what it was, we didn't call the Dr. until Wednesday morning. Once we got in, it was quickly confirmed what was going on. Nikki gave a valiant try, but once the Petosin kicked in, things started moving fast, a little too fast. Annie's heart rate was dropping pretty low during the contractions, so the decision was made for a C-Section.
As it turns out, Annie likes jewelry because, as Dr. Barton put it, she already had two necklaces. By that, she meant that Annie had managed to wrap her umbilical cord around her own neck, TWICE!
Well, never fear, because mommy and Annie are both absolutely perfect. The c-section was downright routine, and the medical staff was taking time to make sure we were as involved as possible. Aside from actually having to do the C-Section, we couldn't have been happier with the people we had around us. As everyone says, you can plan and plan, and then plan some more, but in the end, labor and delivery happen however they are destined to happen.
She was born at 6:34pm, and I got to hold her for a while soon thereafter, and was quickly into Nik's arms for the ride out to recovery. My parents, Nikki's parents, and her brother Adam were on hand to welcome Annie into the world, it was a great time. No matter how we thought it was going to go, our baby girl is here and is beautiful, safe, and the newest member of our happy family, and that is all that really matters to us.
Oh, and for anyone wondering, Ruby and Asta were well tended to, and are now enjoying a week at Sam's parents house, where they'll be spoiled to within an inch of their little puppy lives.
